Niho o Hinemoana

This taonga has been crafted from a large mako tooth, and a facet cut amethyst set in sterling silver. Strung on 3 strands of pearls, garnets, and amethysts, the plaited strands represent hinengaro,tinana and wairua.

This taonga is a protective amulet crafted to bring it's wearer confidence to move through the world with the power of the oceans at their call.

This taonga is housed in box marked with moko kauae. This pattern is worn by the artist and symbolises the right to speak.
